Football trials: how they work and how to hear about them
A trial is a session where a club watches players who want a place in its squad. Here is what usually happens, and how to find out when one is on.
What a trial is like
A trial is usually one or more training sessions with the squad, sometimes followed by a friendly match. The coach watches your technique, fitness and how you play with others. Ask beforehand how long it lasts, what to bring, and what paperwork you need.
How to hear about trials
Clubs usually announce trials on their social media, their website or on notice boards at the ground. Follow the clubs near you and ask directly about dates. Trials change every season, so a date you saw months ago may no longer apply.
How to prepare
Arrive early with full kit and any medical paperwork the club asks for. Build your Playnder profile with your position, format and history, so the club knows what you play before it sees you. Playnder does not run trials or publish dates: the club decides who it contacts.
